3DAG Featured at Inspiration Natur-e at the Museum of Fribourg
As a result of millions of years of evolution, nature is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for scientists. All over the world, they are analyzing it and trying to understand how evolution has led to surprising results and surpassed our own efforts in science and engineering.
From simple observation with the naked eye, scientists have moved on to the most sophisticated techniques. Thanks to these new technological capabilities, they are now able to observe biological structures, their shapes and mechanisms at the nanoscale, where even a hair looks huge. They discover how it works and use it to create new materials.
Once researchers have understood the hydrophobic properties of the salvinia leaf, how the structure of a butterfly wing generates shimmering colours, or what makes the spider web strong, they invent water repellent surfaces, security features for banknotes, or wires as strong as steel.
3D AG Supported the Exhibition of the Museum of Fribourg About Technologies Inspired by Nature
We are proud to provide some of our holograms to be showcased at the exhibition. The colourful effect in holograms also appears in nature. Holograms are diffraction gratings which break light into the spectral colours. This surface structure is also seen in nature, such as on the wings of butterflies! Find out more about the exhibition!
