Since the 90s 3D AG has originated over 600 hologram patterns and from this large collection some of the most renowned and prominent patterns have taken over the world of packaging. We are also continuously innovating our leading “large format Rainbow”, that is found in millions of packaging designs for visual enhancement. Our Rainbow stands out through its brilliance innovated through unique development. 3D AG is also active in the origination and recombination of Fresnel Lenses for special packaging applications.
Holographic Patterns for Foils
3D AG has designed and created over 600 holographic patterns with unique shapes and graphical compositions. We can offer a variety of elemental and elegant designs, whilst others are more flashy and striking. Originated with our various holographic techniques we always set the objective to create bright and clear diffractive gratings. The structured designs are arranged in a manner to create colorful and eye-catching effects using the various shapes within different viewing angles.

Hologram Embossing Shims: Hot Foils, Cold Foils, Films and Laminates
The production of holographic foil for packaging materials is one of the first steps in the process. Hot foils, cold foils, films and laminates are embossed with holographic structures to later be incorporated into various packaging materials for embellishment. At 3D AG we manufacture large format shims for wide web embossing of foils and laminates. Our embossing shims can be ordered at any thickness, perfectly cut to size or even welded to a sleeve according to the exact diameter of an embossing cylinder. We have a large variety of stock holographic patterns, offer customized designs, as well as we can recombine any visual design to precisely fit the manufacturing of unique designs.
Large Format Rainbow Hologram:
Cross Grating or Hexagonal Grating
3D AG’s Rainbow is unique and renowned worldwide for its clarity and brightness. The key to our successful cross-grating Rainbow is the unique and specialized origination technique. We do not use digital techniques but have co-developed a special setup with a research laboratory to originate our Rainbows with laser interference. We continuously invest in creating new versions which has led to the development of “Hexa-Star” the hexagonal Rainbow Hologram. In comparison to our existing cross grating Rainbow library, the hexagonal Rainbow shows an elementary difference in the technical formation, which is based on hexagonal structures. The benefit is that it is clear to identify and unique in regard to the vivid color play.
Embossing Shims for Fresnel Lens Foil or Holographic Lenses Foil
Lenses and lens patterns have revolutionized the packaging industry. The attractive 3D depth that will mirror or warp is unique and capturing. Fresnel lenses are microstructures made of facets that bend or reflect light like a thick lens. At 3D AG we have the capability to offer Fresnel lenses originated by Diamond Turning Machine (DTM), as well as recombine them according to a precise layout to enhance a printed design. We have a lot of experience in the cigarette packaging industry, as well as food and beverage packaging, developing visually distinctive designs with Fresnel lens structures.
The challenge for many foil manufacturers is that Fresnel lenses can’t be embossed with conventional methods, but need to be replicated with UV embossing technologies. This can be circumvented by high-end holographic lenses. They can be combined with holographic patterns or other visual effects to form an attractive appearance on packaging.
Customized Scattered Microtexts or Micrographics
Scattered or positioned micro markings can be integrated into holographic foil for product and brand protection. These customized microtexts or micrographics are implemented to uplevel your packaging and allow visual authentication.
