As this ambitious project nears its conclusion in April 2025, we reflect on the groundbreaking advancements made and the strong collaborations built along the way.

 

Highly Scaled Gravure Printing (SCALAR)

SCALAR advances gravure printing by bridging the gap between lab-scale and industrial speeds, enabling high-resolution, high-speed printing. The project drives innovation in instrumentation, process control, cylinder design, and ink formulation, reinforcing Switzerland’s leadership in the field.

  1. Develop a gravure printing theory for nanoparticle and 2D materials
  2. Design a family of functional gravure printing inks
  3. Develop a novel process for gravure cylinder engraving to meet the requirements of high precision printing
  4. Fine tune hardware and improve software of the available gravure printing unit
