NFC Smart Labels
for Convenience
& Interactivity
Introducing NFC (Near Field Communication) chips, the game-changers in product digitalization and seamless connectivity. These tiny, powerful chips function as smart labels that can be directly accessed with your phone. With a simple tap, NFC-enabled devices establish a wireless connection, unlocking a world of possibilities for enhanced user experiences and product information. At 3D AG, we support implementing NFC technology to bring convenience and interactivity right at your customers fingertips, revolutionizing the way they interact with your products by enabling a new era of connectivity.
NFC Tags as Smart Labels
The near field technology of NFC Labels enables contactless data-transfer, which makes NFC tags an optimal solution for implementing smart solutions. 3D AG maintains a strong partner network with sustainable NFC chip manufacturers in Europe.

Choosing the Right Technology:
Hologram Sticker vs. NFC Tags
From single-dimensional barcodes to data-rich chips, RFID and NFC Technology have become an interesting alternative to holographic labels. Each technology has its benefits, whilst holograms contain security and authenticity levels, NFC chips allow contactless data-transfer. To decide which approach is right for you, critically think about the following things:
- Who is scanning?
- At which point in time along the customer/user journey?
- Where are they when they scan?
- Will it be on the product or packaging?
- What's the added benefit?
- What do you want to convey?
- .........
The Best of Both Worlds: Combine a Hologram Sticker with a NFC Tag
The key to successfully implementing NFC chips is the decision where they are placed. To achieve a high scan rate, the “sign” for the NFC chips should be very well visible. At 3D AG we have gained great experience with the combination of a hologram sticker and an underlying NFC chip. The eye-catching effect of a hologram allows it to guide customers to the NFC chip whilst giving the customer experience a quality touch.
RFID Tags and NFC Chips: Technology and Applications
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a wireless system of “tags” and “readers”. The reader has antennas and emits radio waves that receive signals back from the RFID Tag, which can be active (sending signals, with battery) or passive (powered by the reader, no battery). The reader can be a phone, as well as it can be an entire system built into the architecture of a room. The technology is applied for inventory control, equipment tracking, monitoring and more.
Near Field Communication (NFC) is a subcategory of RFID, communicating over a specific RFID frequency (13.56MHz, to be exact). The technology also allows a contact-free data transmission, enabling two devices to communicate wirelessly when they’re close together. The transmission ranges from five to ten centimeters. NFC technology is applied for contactless payment, ticketing, parking management, IoT, product marking and more.
